Mahjong
This project is my thesis, Design Dogma: Creating New Experiences by Challenging Convention. This focuses on breaking away from standardization to alter the experiences of the user. This begins to force designers to make more purposeful choices that meaningfully contribute to a person's experience.
Each asset is hand drawn, including individual tiles, arrows, and brackets.

The Tiles
Each tile was meticulously designed across 5 different suits
Each tile went through multiple iterations. Following are some notable stages in tile development.

Extra Materials
Included in this project were 4 main components: the box, instruction book, win conditions (yaku), and the cards.
The box is constructed to house the dead wall (an aspect of playing Riichi Mahjong) while taking up minimal space. The green was chosen to pay homage to the classic green of Mahjong tables.
The win conditions (yaku), were placed on their own individual cards. These were color coded for open/closed hands, and have tactile cuts to show how much each yaku is worth.
